#bridalshowertakeover

Another repost, I know. But hey, I've rebranded + revamped a lot of things, this specific shoot included! Plus, this #bridalshowertakeover got picked up by Mingle Magazine! The whole event has a 3 page spread in their Autumn 2016 issue and we are pumped. Along with the photos, they also included my story about why I through the whole event. I'm so excited about the feature, but also excited to share it again here! **I've decided to make the #bridalshowertakeover more of a thing, so be on the lookout for your chance to be the next chosen bride for a bridal shower takeover in 2017! (vendors who want to be included in this, please e-mail me!)**

So here it is, the story + photos from our celebrated event :

I have a strong desire to make every bride I talk to realize what a special season of life she’s in. Engagements should be so sweet & thrilling, full of love & anticipation. A bride should be showered, adorned, celebrated . So in order to help a bride have a more enjoyable engagement, I hosted a contest/giveaway for one extraordinary bride-to-be. I hosted the event on Instagram + Facebook, asking girls and guys to nominate their friend or fiancé for this event, stating why they deserved it, and then to hashtag our event’s name, “#bridalshowertakeover”.

With this contest, over 100 entries were created with just an outpour of love and adoration for these brides to be. It was beautiful reading each nomination, lengthy posts praising and encouraging girls everywhere.

In addition to my desire to throw this shower for a special bride, I also wanted to include some of my favorite vendors from Oklahoma. Some were just simply my favorites, while others are working to get their business up and running in the wedding industry and I wanted to offer potential publicity for their hard work and creations. It all came together beautifully and all the vendors did amazing work.

With the vision I had in my mind of what I wanted this bridal shower in the woods to look like, I requested that all the girls come in their favorite little black dress. We pampered the winning bride, Emily, with hair & makeup, full wardrobe, and a beautiful flower crown to make her feel extra special.

Fruity cocktails kept the girls warm, lively and giggly all evening, desserts and award winning quiche danced on their forks, and overhanging lights and candles created a dream ambiance. We had a blast showering Emily and reminding her this season of life is such an exciting and fun one, even in the midst of stressful wedding planning.

So excited that this #bridalshowertakeover was featured on Green Wedding Shoes, as well as in Mingle Magazine. We’re super grateful for both features. Once you’re done looking through these images, see a few extra photos on GWS blog here, and buy your Mingle Autumn 2016 issue here

WEDDING IN SWEDEN

Jon + Klara | Sweden Wedding

A pretty girl from Sweden met a stylish boy from Oklahoma through a crazy chain of events and before long, fell in love . 4900 miles apart, 7 hours time difference . It didn't take long for Jon to decide to make the move to Malmö himself, and not long after that, they were engaged . They just knew .

So last summer, we packed up and headed to Malmö with some friends, to celebrate these two becoming one . It was a night in June, when the sun didn't set until 10pm, and rose only 6 hours later at 4am . The days were long and we never knew what time it was . But it didn't matter . We ate and drank and danced and laughed -- all on repeat for days and days . The Swedes know how to throw a party .

Their day went smoothly and slow, her friends helping her get ready in her & Jon's home, and Jon getting ready with his friends and family who had flown in to celebrate . Klara's good friend custom made her dress, and her shoes were from & Other Stories . and that's all she needed . I love her simplistic style + ways about her . After the beautiful wedding in an old church in the south of Sweden, the reception followed at Holmanäs Gärd, which was beautiful and matched the style + aesthetics of the day perfectly . Toast after toast was given, lots of kisses for the bride (per Swedish tradition), dancing and wine and worlds colliding over conversations held till morning .

Jon + Klara, you have amazing people who surround you . & it's because you yourselves are amazing . We love you . & hey, congrats on that baby due any day now! <3

COPENHAGEN ENGAGEMENT

JON + KLARA | SWEDEN + DENMARK ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Oh, these two . They're so wonderful .

If you've been following my blog for awhile, then you'll know that this blog post is technically a repeat . But since I've rebranded, I decided to re-edit these photos because they are some of my favorites, and also because it's time to finally blog their wedding!

This specific post is of Jon + Klara's engagement session . Jon is a friend of ours from Oklahoma, but once he fell in love with a Swedish girl, it wasn't long before he made the move to Sweden to be with her . And soon after, I travelled there to document their engagement! Really, it was just us all hanging out, doing Swedish things like walking everywhere, eating open faced sandwiches for breakfast, having 'Fika' daily, making meals together, and wearing all black (of course). I like the way the swedes do life . It's slow-paced, people are kind + intentional, and seriously have the best style . We explored Klara's hometown of Malmö, Sweden and also made our way 30 minutes west to Copenhagen, Denmark . The whole trip was so dreamy .

So today, their engagements . Tomorrow I'll post their wedding! <3
