Aaron + Katie

long distance relationships are not for the faint of heart . they’re not easy, and not for two people who are unsure about each other or not in it for the long haul . it requires infinite love, trust, understanding, patience, commitment .  it takes selflessness and intentional pursuit . it requires you to map out communication because you’re in a different time zone than they are .

aaron + katie, against their personal views + wishes, just couldn’t help but take the plunge and date long distance . for 2 years they worked at it, until they just couldn’t anymore . the distance is a weary road . it wore them down and out and they called it quits .

luckily their love + devotion + passion + obsession with each other was still there and a few months later, on Thanksgiving day, Katie flew to see him in Seattle . It was there in the airport he greeted her … with a ring . & now they’ll never be apart <3

//

these two are something else . insanely good looking + stylish (you’ll see with their details + reception styling) . incredibly gracious + kind (the most devoted friends who surround them are evidence of this , including the most fun bridesmaids pics ever) . hilarious, charismatic, and ridiculous fun to be around (chest bumps, champagne chugging, butt grabbing, face licking, all things pure joy) .

a + k, thanks so much for having us and letting us be a part of your cool + inspirational lives . love you guys .

PORTLAND WAREHOUSE WEDDING

JOSH + JORDAN | OREGON WEDDING

Best friends for years . Like literally put each other in the friend zone on more than one occasion, getting coffee together and telling stories about their current bf/gf situations, asking relationship advice from each other and always ending with bro-hugs – to now >> husband + wife . it’s funny to think about, but it’s also just a beautiful + amazing foundation for a relationship to form . Their friendship + bond is obvious, and now the love + passion + chemistry so evident, I loved shooting them together .

Their wedding was out of this world fun . Neither of them, nor any of their guests were from Portland, but that’s where they decided to get married & it just worked out that I live in Portland! We’ve known Josh for years now + we were so stoked to get to document the best day of his life, marrying his beautiful + perfect girl .

R.I.P to the dance floor, thanks to J + J + their crazy-amazing dance-loving friends + relatives who had to be forced to leave the dance floor at the end of the night .

I loved being a part of this wedding, and getting to be a part of something so good + true .

Thanks, you babes . Love you .

#bridalshowertakeover

Another repost, I know. But hey, I've rebranded + revamped a lot of things, this specific shoot included! Plus, this #bridalshowertakeover got picked up by Mingle Magazine! The whole event has a 3 page spread in their Autumn 2016 issue and we are pumped. Along with the photos, they also included my story about why I through the whole event. I'm so excited about the feature, but also excited to share it again here! **I've decided to make the #bridalshowertakeover more of a thing, so be on the lookout for your chance to be the next chosen bride for a bridal shower takeover in 2017! (vendors who want to be included in this, please e-mail me!)**

So here it is, the story + photos from our celebrated event :

I have a strong desire to make every bride I talk to realize what a special season of life she’s in. Engagements should be so sweet & thrilling, full of love & anticipation. A bride should be showered, adorned, celebrated . So in order to help a bride have a more enjoyable engagement, I hosted a contest/giveaway for one extraordinary bride-to-be. I hosted the event on Instagram + Facebook, asking girls and guys to nominate their friend or fiancé for this event, stating why they deserved it, and then to hashtag our event’s name, “#bridalshowertakeover”.

With this contest, over 100 entries were created with just an outpour of love and adoration for these brides to be. It was beautiful reading each nomination, lengthy posts praising and encouraging girls everywhere.

In addition to my desire to throw this shower for a special bride, I also wanted to include some of my favorite vendors from Oklahoma. Some were just simply my favorites, while others are working to get their business up and running in the wedding industry and I wanted to offer potential publicity for their hard work and creations. It all came together beautifully and all the vendors did amazing work.

With the vision I had in my mind of what I wanted this bridal shower in the woods to look like, I requested that all the girls come in their favorite little black dress. We pampered the winning bride, Emily, with hair & makeup, full wardrobe, and a beautiful flower crown to make her feel extra special.

Fruity cocktails kept the girls warm, lively and giggly all evening, desserts and award winning quiche danced on their forks, and overhanging lights and candles created a dream ambiance. We had a blast showering Emily and reminding her this season of life is such an exciting and fun one, even in the midst of stressful wedding planning.

So excited that this #bridalshowertakeover was featured on Green Wedding Shoes, as well as in Mingle Magazine. We’re super grateful for both features. Once you’re done looking through these images, see a few extra photos on GWS blog here, and buy your Mingle Autumn 2016 issue here
